The Skids at The 229 in London

Sold Out show with Spear Of Destiny

Artist - The Skids

Venue - 229 Great Portland Street

Town - London UK

Date - 15th November 2024

A sold out show at The 229 venue welcomed both Spear of Destiny and The Skids, a buoyant audience were fully engaged with both bands. Kirk Brandon and Spear of Destiny rock’n’rolled through their repertoire with Brandon’s unique vocal delivery still clearly in evidence, hitting those long notes perfectly.

Richard Jobson cruised on to the stage with the rest of The Skids and presented us with a run through of The Days Of Europa album from 1979 starting with "Animation" and progressed through "Charade", "Working For The Yankee Dollar", Masquerade" and "The Olympian".

Jobson clearly relished singing these songs, "They seem more relevant today than maybe they did at the time we wrote them" he commented. Days In Europa certainly caught the band at it's magnificent best both in playing and their song writing. Jobson as he always does left time to compliment his gifted tunesmith partner Stuart Adamson, sadly missed.

There was then time to launch "Into The Valley" maybe their anthem within anthems? Finishing the night with "Charles", The Skids first single and first song written by Jobson and Adamson as a fitting end to the night.
