Live Gig Review
Leah Weller
Date - 24th Nov 2023
Venue - The 100 Club
Town - London Oxford Street
Leah Weller returned on Friday evening for the second time this year to the infamous 100 Club on Oxford Street, with all the venue's Rock history dripping from it's walls and framed photos to remind you who has graced that stage.
Leah followed a superb burst of rock'n'roll from The Tearaways featuring on drums none other than Clem Burke, a man who simply does not age and can roll around the toms like it was still "Dreaming" from 1979, absolutely fabulous....
Leah coasts onto the the stage with a coolness of a seasoned performer surely inherited though her parentage though I won't dwell on her well known mother and father I am sure if you are reading this you already know?
We are here tonight to be treated to songs from her new album Freedom which contains a plethora of well written and produced music. On stage she is joined by the Producer of said album and another influence on her sound - Steve Craddock who takes a backseat to the upcoming Leah.
Songs like Wonder have such subtle arrangements that drift and rise beautifully to weave around Leah's smoke tinged vocals. This album deserves repeated play with other standouts such as Freedom surely raising her profile. An upcoming show with the Americana group Far From Saints, a group put together by Kelly Jones of Stereophonics fame will surely hit the right demographic. Onwards and upwards.
